If you have an Android device, always download apps from a trusted source like Google Play Store. Actually, downloading apps from third-party sources can cost you heavily. Explaining its dangers, Google said that this can increase the chances of malware getting installed in the phone. There is a risk of data theft from your device as well as financial loss due to malware.
Google told this danger
In the Android Developers Blog, Google said that if a user downloads apps from anywhere other than the Play Store, then the chances of malware in it increases 50 times. The company said that due to its strong privacy policy and threat detection, it has blocked about 23 lakh suspicious apps from coming to Google Play Store. However, sometimes apps with malware also come on the Play Store, which are removed after getting information about it.
Recently more than 300 apps were removed
Recently more than 300 such apps were removed from the Play Store, which were stealing user data by bypassing the security features of Android 13. They were installed more than 6 crore times in total. These apps used to incite people to share their personal information by showing ads. They were also trying to steal users' credit card information through phishing attacks. These apps were being operated under an operation called Vapor.
Google will take these steps to stop malware.
Google has said that it will take several steps to prevent apps with malware from coming on the Play Store. Now it will be difficult for hackers to trap users in their net to download malicious apps. The company is also expanding its Play Protect live threat detection, which will make it more difficult to list fake apps on the Play Store.
