Jacob Duffy from New Zealand tied the record for the most wickets by a Kiwi fast bowler in a T20 series, helping the team wrap up their series against Pakistan with a 4-1 win. He took 13 wickets, matching leg-spinner Ish Sodhi’s record from 2021. Tim Seifert was named Player of the Series for scoring 249 runs in five games, including an impressive 97 off just 38 balls, but Duffy’s performance was crucial to New Zealand’s success.

Duffy stepped in for Lockie Ferguson during the Champions Trophy but didn’t get to play then. In this series, he made a strong impact on pitches that were good for pace against a young batting lineup.

Here’s a look at the most wickets by a New Zealand bowler in a T20I series:

  • 13: Ish Sodhi (vs Australia, 2021) – home
  • 13: Jacob Duffy (vs Pakistan, 2025) – home
  • 11: Mitchell Santner (vs England, 2019) – home
  • 10: Ajaz Patel (vs Bangladesh, 2021) – Away
  • 10: Tim Southee (vs Pakistan, 2024) – home

With Trent Boult and Tim Southee not around anymore, Duffy, along with Ben Sears, Will O’Rourke, and Kyle Jamieson, have been stepping up and continuing New Zealand’s strong fast-bowling tradition.

Meanwhile, Pakistan introduced some new players in their T20 lineup. They showed some flashes of talent, but New Zealand was just too strong on their home ground. The teams will now shift focus to the ODIs, with Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam returning for Pakistan, bringing some much-needed experience to their side against a New Zealand team missing a few key players due to injuries and IPL commitments.
