Famous Bollywood actor Shashi Kapoor had a sweet smile along with a charming personality. Due to this he ruled millions of hearts. Shashi Kapoor started his career as an actor in 1961 with the film Dharmaputra. After this he worked in many films like Sharmilee Jab Jab Phool Khile Dil Ne Pukara Haseena Maan Jaayegi Kanyadaan Pyar Ka Mausam and Bombay Talkie. Talking about Shashi Kapoors personal life he was madly in love with Prithvi Theater Group co-member Jennifer Kendall. Shashi married Kendall. Both saw good and bad times together. Soon after marriage the couple faced serious financial problems as they lacked money and work. Shashi Kapoors son Kunal Kapoor talked about this in an interview. In an interview with Rediff.com in 2017 Shashi Kapoors son Kunal Kapoor revealed that when his father started his career in Hindi films he faced problems finding heroines for his films. Kunal revealed that his father had directed only one film. When my father was launched as the lead actor in Dharmputra no actress wanted to work with a new actor. Nanda was the only actress who agreed to work with him despite being a star at that time. My father had directed only one film Ajoobaa. There was a big party on the set of the film. Everyone had a lot of fun. Further in the interview Kunal revealed that his father Shashi had no interest in directing and said that as an actor he was very good at his job. Some of Shashi Kapoors hit films are still considered classics. I dont think he had any interest in directing. He was an actor. He was not a businessman doing filmmaking. He made great films because he gave his cast and crew everything they wanted. My father was one of the first actors to do crossover films. Let us tell you that Shashi Kapoor did not have work or money till the end of the 60s and he faced a financial crisis. In the same conversation Kunal had said that his father had to sell his sports car. Shashis wife and Kunals mother Jennifer Kendal also started selling things for the same reason. She said that his condition improved after the 1971 film Sharmilee. However later Shashi Kapoor left the world battling emotional and health problems. His wife Jennifer Kendal died after 26 years of happy married life. Jennifers death broke his heart. Shashi Kapoor started drinking more and the will to live started diminishing. While Jennifer died of cancer on September 7 1984 an emotionally shattered Shashi breathed his last on December 5 2017.
