Kolkata: On Friday, a catastrophic 7.2-magnitude earthquake rocked Myanmar. Thailand was also affected by the earthquakes. Panic and structural damage resulted from the earthquakes. A significant portion of travelers to Thailand are from India. However, people began to leave for India as soon as the nation began to feel the fatal impacts of the earthquake.
Travelers began returning to India on Friday evening, arriving at the airport in Kolkata from Bangkok. Ranjan Banerjee, one of the passengers, spoke candidly about his experience and the state of affairs in Bangkok. He said that while the present state of affairs was typical, workplaces and shopping centers were evacuated as the earthquake was felt.
“An emergency scenario existed at the time, but today everything is normal. Offices and shopping centers were evacuated. Passenger Ranjan Banerjee told the media report, “The Metro rail system was shut.”
Safdar, another traveler from Bangkok, reported seeing water gushing from the infinity pool and the towers trembling. He said that public transportation was suspended for a few hours as a result of the earthquake.
“I was traveling at the time. I saw a few towers trembling. Water was gushing from an infinity pool. Although there were fears that the structure may collapse, it did not occur. For a few hours, public transportation was closed,” Safdar told the media report.
After returning from Bangkok on Friday night, Sanjiv Dutta said that his bed was trembling during the earthquake. He said that when he woke up, people were fleeing in fear and that the buildings were trembling.
“When the earthquake struck, my bed began to tremble. I saw that the structure was trembling as I woke up. Later, I saw panicked individuals fleeing. I waited there for a while after making my way from the seventh floor to the ground level. Traffic was heavy. Thirty kilometers were covered in five to six hours.
