The Modi Government has announced a 2% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees and pensioners, bringing the total DA to 55% from the previous 53%. This decision, made on March 28, 2025, will benefit around 1 crore employees and pensioners.

✅ New DA (After Hike): 55%
✅ Effective Date: From January 1, 2025
✅ Employees & Pensioners Benefited: 1 Crore+
✅ Arrears for January & February 2025 will also be provided
📌 Last DA Hike: July 2024, when the DA was increased by 7%
For example, if an employee has a Basic Salary of ₹18,000:
🔹 Before DA Hike (53%) = ₹9,540
🔹 After DA Hike (55%) = ₹9,900
🔹 Increase in DA: ₹360 per month
🔹 Annual Increase: ₹4,320
Similarly, pensioners will also see an increase:
🔹 Before Hike: ₹13,770
🔹 After Hike: ₹13,950
DA is a component of a government employee’s salary and pension aimed at offsetting the impact of inflation. It is revised twice a year – January and July – based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

✅ 8th Pay Commission: The government has also approved the formation of the 8th Pay Commission, which will be implemented in 2026.
✅ Pensioners’ Benefit: With a 2% DA hike, pensioners will also get increased benefits.
This decision comes just before Eid 2025, bringing financial relief to millions of employees and pensioners.
