What happened between them became public spite. This singer is the son of Pandit Chaturbhuj Rathod a pioneer in the Hindustani classical music. Music running in his blood he started plating tabla. Eventually he joined a troupe of famous bhajan singer Anup Jalota. The singers name is Roopkumar Rathod. Word has it that during the practices and rehearsals Rathod fell in love with Jalotas first wife Sonali Sheth. Hailing from Gujarat she was a student and the couple got married without Jalotas familly approval. They used to do concerts together. However as the closeness increased between them they decided to get married stirring a controversy in the industry. Filled with angst Jalota urged several producers Bollywood composers to boycott Rathod and not sign him for projects. Surprisingly several people agreed and this affected the Ghazal singers career. Speaking of Jalota he got married twice later but both marriages did not last. Roopkumar got his big break when he voiced the iconic song Sandese Aate Hain from Border. He became part of several big projects his song for Shah Rukh Khans movie Rab Ne Bana DI Jodi Tujhe Mei Rab Dikhta Hai became a chartbuster. He sang iconic tracks in movies such as Kareeb Mela Jism and Life in a Metro. Later he shifted his trajectory towards ghazals in profound depth and decided to pursue a genre more close to his heart and roots. Sonali Rathod is also a trained classical singer and the couple perform at several live concerts together. After marriage with Rathod they became parents to Reewa who is also a singer. Despite the testing times the couple live to the symphony of their own melodies. Rathod is quite active on social media and often shares posts with his family especially his wife.
