Christian Horner's team missed out on millions in prize money as they finished third in the Constructors' Championship in 2024 when they should have come out on top
Sergio Perez scored just 152 points in the same car that Max Verstappen delivered 437. Verstappen is again flying this year, sitting second in the standings with 36 points after two races. His car must be quick again, you would think. But new rookie Liam Lawson did not score any in the same machinery.
Verstappen had time to park his car and pour the champagne in the 64 seconds he crossed the chequered flag ahead of his team-mate in China last weekend.
The gap is so vast it's no wonder Lawson has been demoted to Racing Bull after just two races.
That's what separates the best from the rest, having the cajones to make ruthless calls.
You don't stay at the top by accepting mediocrity.
And if you're going to put a Japanese driver in the main seat, you want to make sure he's there for his home Grand Prix in Suzuka next time out.
