There are certain films that leave mark. It is not always about the massive commercial value star studded cast groovy songs or more. Sometimes all that really works for the audience is the story and the performance. This is one such films that was released in 2007. The actors werent big names them but today have achieved great success.
This dark comedy drama is a 2 hours 23 minute long film that became a success with just one song. The film is Ek Chalis Ki Last Local. If you are a millennial you are sure to have tapped to the beats and hummed it along with your walkman!
The film was directed by Sanjay Khanduri. This story revolved around two people who miss the last local at 1:40 pm. Due to auto strike they decide to walk down entering a bar. Who knew that walking into a bar would open a pandora box for them. And how they tackle the situation will keep you hooked and tickle some giggles owing to the dark humour.
The one song that made to the charts was Laree Choote. It was sung by Xulfi composed by a band named Call. The movie features Abhay Deol Neha Dhupia and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles. Reportedly the film was made at a budget of about Rs 3 crores but earned around over Rs 72 crores almost 20 times more the budget! It been close to a decade but the song is still a number one might not want to skip.
Recently the director revealed about his plans for a sequel reported News 18 Hindi. It further stated that Khanduri might plan to shoot the sequel against the backdrop of scenic scape of Chile. He called the project bigger madder and global. An official update is awaited yet.
Apart from this it was not long ago when Abhay Deol and Neha Dhupia teased about a sequel almost two years ago. Deol had shared a post on Instagram where he was seen dancing his heart out his nephew Karan Deol’s wedding. The son of Sunny Deol. On Abhay’s picture Neha commented The most I have seen u dance after ek challis. Playing along the fun banter Abhay responded @nehadhupia hahahah true that! Let’s make part 2 luv. Dhupia further agreed and said and why not!
