BPSC 70th Exam 2025: The Patna High Court has dismissed petitions requesting a retest for the 70th Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) Preliminary Examination, marking a significant setback for candidates demanding a fresh exam. The court’s verdict provides relief to the BPSC but leaves many aspirants dissatisfied. On Friday, a division bench consisting of Acting Chief Justice Ashutosh Kumar and Justice Partha Sarathi delivered the verdict, confirming that the examination would not be canceled. However, the court emphasised the need for enhanced transparency and security in future examinations. It also directed the formation of a high-level committee to oversee these improvements, as reported by NDTV.With the verdict of the court, the BPSC is currently gearing up for the 70th Main Examination, which will be conducted between April 25 and April 30, 2025.Even after the court's ruling, several candidates, including prominent coaching teacher Guru Rahman, were disappointed. According to the News 18 reports, they are now planning to challenge the ruling in the Supreme Court in the hopes of securing a retest.BPSC Preliminary Test ResultsOn 23 January 2025, the BPSC declared the results of the 70th Preliminary Test (PT). Among 3,28,990 candidates who appeared for the examination, 21,581 candidates have been shortlisted to proceed to the next round. Why are candidates Requesting a Retest?BPSC aspirants requested a re-exam because of the issues of alleged irregularities and mismanagement that occurred during the 70th Preliminary Test (PT). Some of the main reasons why they requested this include:Many candidates claim that the exam paper was leaked before the test, creating an unfair advantage for certain individuals. This has ignited the calls for investigation and a new examination to ascertain fairness. On December 13, 2024, the test at Patna's Bapu Exam Centre was cancelled because of delay and mismanagement. Although there was a re-test for this centre on January 4, many believe that the same happened at other centres in the state as well and hence they demanded a re-test at the state level. Some candidates have raised issues regarding discrepancies in the evaluation process and the lack of transparency in the result declaration. They have demanded a detailed probe to establish the fairness of the process.Call for Independent InquiryIn the wake of these concerns, numerous candidates, politicians, and activists have demanded a CBI investigation into the alleged irregularities in the examination. They believe that an independent investigation is essential to regain confidence in the recruitment process.
