The actress we are going to discuss today was one of those who shot to fame after her debut. She made a name for herself in Bollywood and to this day people love watching her films despite being released decades ago. If you are wondering who we are talking about the actress in discussion is none other than Padmini Kolhapure. Padmini was one of the most loved actresses in Bollywood during the 80s and 90s. She made her debut at the age of 17. She started her journey as a child artist in films like Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973) and Kitaab (1977). However her first lead role came when she featured in Ishk Ishk Ishk in 1975. Over the years Padmini proved her mettle in Bollywood with movies like Satyam Shivam Sundaram Prem Rog Souten and Pyar Jhukta Nahin. Eventually she made a name for herself among audiences and topped the charts as one of the most beloved actresses of that era. Padmini Kolhapure received her first Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the 1980 revenge drama Insaf Ka Tarazu. Padmini delivered a superhit film with Rishi Kapoor—Prem Rog—which further established her in the industry. Later she made headlines when she gave a peck to the King of the United Kingdom. Yes you read that right! Kolhapure kissed Prince Charles during his visit to India. He went to the sets of Ahista Ahista (1981) to witness how a film was shot in India. However it was Padmini who grabbed all the headlines when she surprisingly gave him a kiss. Not just the Indian media but also the British media covered the incident and gave her a nickname—“the woman who kissed Prince Charles.” Did you know that Kolhapure was one of the favorite actresses of the legendary late actor Raj Kapoor? In an interview Padmini Kolhapure revealed that when a child artist was needed for the film Chalta Purza she auditioned for the role. However she didnt make it into the film and was reportedly rejected by Khanna according to News18. Another fact about the actress was when she ran away from home. Yes in 1989 she producer Pradeep ‘Tutu’ Sharma during the filming of Aisa Pyar Kahan and fell in love with him. Over the period of time their bond grew and both wanted to get married. However Padmini’s conservative Maharashtrian family was against her and Pradeep Sharma’s marriage. So Padmini decided to elope and got married.
