The Chief Minister, riding an elephant on the recently reconstructed and officially opened bridge over the Kopili River in Kampur, disclosed on social media on X that he had been a kid actor in the movie “Kokadeuta Nati Aru Hati,” where he rode an elephant on the same bridge decades before.

The moment was described by CM Sarma as “Reel to Real.”

“Some of you may not be aware, but I portrayed a youngster in a movie many years ago. I was riding an elephant on a bridge in one of the movie’s scenes. The same bridge was reconstructed and dedicated to the public today, and I got to ride an elephant once again. The Chief Minister wrote on X, “This is called Reel to Real.”

According to another social media post, “Kampur Kapili Bridge evokes feelings of nostalgia since it is the same spot where I rode an elephant for the movie ‘Kokadeuta Nati aur Hati’ years ago. I couldn’t resist recreating the iconic scenario when I dedicated the new bridge here today, which was a long-standing request from the public.

The freshly built Kampur Railway Overbridge was dedicated to the passengers and inhabitants of Nagaon district on Sunday by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The overbridge, which was constructed at a cost of Rs 63 crore, eases railway crossings and improves connectivity by replacing the old level crossing gate.

The ancient Kapili River Bridge in Kampur, which was constructed in 1958–1959, has also been renovated and turned into a pedestrian bridge and strolling area by the Assam government. According to the Assamese government, the Chief Minister today officially opened the renovated bridge, satisfying a long-standing public demand.

CM Sarma also shared a sentimental moment at the inauguration, remembering his performance on an elephant at the Kampur Kapili Bridge site years ago in the Assamese classic Kokadeuta Nati Aru Hati.

Because Kampur Kapili Bridge is located here, it evokes feelings of nostalgia. For the movie ‘Kokadeuta Nati aur Hati,’ I rode an elephant years ago. He wrote on X, “I couldn’t help but recreate the cult scene as I dedicated the new bridge here today, a long demand of the people.”
