A 21-year-old man was stabbed to death by two juveniles after an altercation over being pushed while dancing at a wedding ceremony in Shahpur.
The deceased, identified as Balu Wagh (21), was a tractor driver residing with his family in Kajgaon, Shahpur taluka, Thane district.
According to the police, the incident took place in Shahpur taluka, Bhiwandi, on March 25. Wagh accidentally pushed two juveniles while dancing at the wedding, leading to a heated argument. In a fit of rage, the juveniles lured him to an isolated spot, stabbed him to death, and later dumped his body in the Bhatsa River before fleeing the scene.
On March 28, locals spotted a body floating in the river and alerted the police. Officers rushed to the scene, retrieved the body, and sent it for a post-mortem at the primary health center in Shahpur.
A murder case was initially registered against an unknown person. Jitendra Thakur, Senior Police Inspector of Shahapur police station, stated, "We formed a team and launched an investigation. Based on interrogations with wedding attendees and locals, we grew suspicious of two juveniles. Upon questioning, they confessed to the crime. We apprehended them, presented them before the Juvenile Justice Board, and sent them to an observation home."
