Shabnam, a resident of Bawankhedi of Hasanpur in Amroha, is dying a painful death in jail. 16 years ago, Shabnam along with her lover Salim murdered her entire family.

Shabnam, who murdered seven people in jail after her mercy petition to the President was rejected, is dying a painful death in jail. About six months ago, during a meeting with Usman Saifi in jail, Shabnam had expressed her pain. Remembering the incident, she cries secretly in jail. About 16 years ago, she along with her lover murdered the whole family.

Usman Saifi, a resident of Bulandshahr who is raising Shabnam's son, said that Shabnam is in Bareilly district jail. The President has rejected her mercy petition twice and has upheld the death sentence. Shabnam talks to her son on phone every 15 to 20 days. She is worried about his studies. She cries secretly in the jail.

She regrets killing her family, but the people of Bawankhedi village do not want Shabnam to live. They are demanding that she be hanged immediately. As soon as Shabnam's name is mentioned, the old incident becomes fresh. Shabnam's uncle Sattar Ali and Aunt  Fatima say that Shabnam and Salim deserve to be hanged for the act they have committed.

They say that Shabnam should have been hanged long ago. Why was she not hanged till now? She has no right to live. RP Gupta, who was the investigating officer, told that after completing the investigation of the case in 52 days, he had filed a 300-page charge sheet in the court. In which 45 witnesses were also made. On the basis of which Shabnam and her lover Salim were sentenced to death.

After the sensational incident, the then CM Mayawati had also reached Bawankhedi.

The sensational incident of murder of seven members of a family had created a stir in the entire state. This was the reason why the then CM Mayawati had also reached the village. The condition of the crime scene was pointing towards Shabnam. The police also started investigation on this line. On the fourth day of the incident, Shabnam and Salim were taken into custody by the police. The remaining task was completed by the call details of Salim's mobile.

This brought the whole case to light. Salim had recovered the axe used in the crime from the pond. The other aspect of this incident was that Shabnam was pregnant at the time of the crime. She was two months pregnant. This child was Salim's. Unmarried Shabnam had given birth to a son in Moradabad jail on 13 December 2008.

After the incident, the villagers did not name their daughters Shabnam.

After the Bawankhedi incident in 2008, no girl in the village has been named Shabnam. As soon as the name Shabnam comes to the lips, the incident of that dreadful night becomes fresh. The people of the village hate the name Shabnam.

Salim talks to his lawyer, not his family.

After the incident, Salim's family turned their backs on him. After this, Salim has also forgotten them. He now talks only to his lawyer. He has not met his family for the last several years. After he went to Naini jail, his father used to visit him, but later he also stopped visiting him.

What did the villager say?

Mohammad Azad Khan says that if Shabnam had been hanged soon, then perhaps out of fear of her other women would not have stained their hands with the blood of their loved ones. When Shabnam has no right to live then why is she being given life. Elderly Mohammad Ramzani says that for a long time there have been talks of hanging Shabnam, but why is she not being given death in this country. If Shabnam had been hanged then other women would also have been scared of doing the same.

Villagers demanding Shabnam's hanging

are demanding Shabnam to be hanged for being the main accused in the massacre that took place in Bawankhedi village about 16 years ago. Shabnam's uncle Sattar Ali says that Shabnam, who murdered seven members of her family, has not been hanged till date. This has caused great resentment against the country's poor system. Why does the government not punish such women who have committed not just one but seven murders?

They say that Shabnam should be hanged as soon as possible. Because Shabnam has not been hanged, many more girls and women in the country have started following Shabnam's path because their fear that they will not be hanged in this country has ended. Such laws should be changed and they should be hanged as soon as possible.

Seven graves in the courtyard of the house bring back memories of the massacre.

The seven graves in the courtyard of Shaukat Ali's house still bear witness to the massacre in which Shabnam, along with her lover Salim, had killed seven members of her own family by slitting their throats.

Shaukat Ali's brother's family lives in the house

Shabnam's father Master Shaukat Ali's family is now living in. Sattar Ali lives with his wife Fatima, son Shoaib and daughter Farhana. Sattar has also got the rooms in which Shabnam murdered her family painted.

This was the whole matter,

teacher Shaukat Ali's family consisted of his wife Hashmi, sons Anees, Rashid, daughter-in-law Anjum, daughter Shabnam and 10-month-old grandson Arsh. The father brought up his only daughter Shabnam with great love and care. She was also given the best education. After completing her MA in English, Shabnam became a Shikshamitra. Shortly after this, Shabnam fell in love with Salim, who was 8th pass, from the same village. Shabnam Saifi was from the Pathan community. Due to this, Shabnam's family did not accept this relation.

Despite this, the two continued to meet. On the night of April 14, 2008, both of them together killed father Shaukat Ali, mother Hashmi, brother Aneesh who was an engineer, sister-in-law Anjum, brother Rashid who was a B.Tech student, cousin Rabia by chopping them with an axe and strangulating their 11-month-old nephew Arsh. On April 19, Hasanpur Kotwali police arrested Salim and recovered the axe used in the murder and blood-stained clothes from the pond. Later, Shabnam was also arrested and both were sent to jail.
