The rise of dating apps in India has opened doors to new relationships—but also new scams. Fraudsters are luring victims through fake profiles, gaining their trust, and tricking them into financial scams. A shocking case from Noida highlights the growing threat of dating app fraud, where a businessman lost a staggering ₹6.5 crore in an online investment scam.
🔹 Victim: Daljeet Singh, a businessman from Noida Sector-36
🔹 Scammer: "Anita Chauhan" (Fake identity on a dating app)
🔹 Method: Lured him into online trading with fake investment promises
✔ December 2024: Daljeet met Anita on a dating app.
✔ She convinced him to invest in an online trading platform.
✔ His first investment of ₹3.2 lakh earned him a profit of ₹24,000, increasing his trust.
✔ Gradually, he transferred ₹6.52 crore into different accounts.
✔ When he tried to withdraw his money, the platform demanded a 30% security fee and an extra ₹61 lakh as an exchange service fee.
That’s when Daljeet realized he had been scammed and reported the case to the cybercrime police.
🔹 Never trust online investment offers—especially from dating app connections.
🔹 Verify trading platforms before investing—check their credibility with SEBI.
🔹 Be cautious with people asking for money online, even if they seem trustworthy.
🔹 Report suspicious activities to cybercrime authorities immediately.
Online romance can be exciting, but it’s crucial to stay alert and protect your hard-earned money. If an investment sounds too good to be true, it probably is! 🚫💰
