Traveling by expressway or national highway will now become expensive. Toll tax has been increased on routes like Lucknow-Kanpur, Ayodhya, Rae Bareli and Barabanki, so passengers will have to pay more.

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to increase the toll tax at many toll plazas across the country. The new rates will be effective from April 1, 2025 and this change will come into effect from midnight of March 31.
Effect on Lucknow route
Travel on Lucknow route will become expensive due to NHAI toll tax hike. Toll has been increased on routes like Lucknow-Kanpur, Ayodhya, Rae Bareli and Barabanki. Due to the increase in toll tax on Lucknow route, passengers will have to pay more money. The toll for light vehicles (car/jeep) has been increased from ₹5 to ₹10. While the toll for heavy vehicles has been increased from ₹20 to ₹25.
Toll tax increased on Delhi-Meerut Expressway
Those traveling on Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Eastern Peripheral Expressway and NH-9 will now have to pay more toll tax. The toll tax has been increased from Sarai Kale Khan to Meerut, under which the toll for car/jeep has been increased from ₹165 to ₹170. Apart from this, the toll for light commercial vehicles has been increased to ₹275 and the toll for trucks has been increased to ₹580. This change will come into effect from April 1, 2025.
Toll tax increased at Chhijarsi toll plaza
The toll tax has also been changed at Chhijarsi toll plaza (NH-9). Here the toll for a car has been increased from ₹170 to ₹175. Apart from this, the toll for light commercial vehicles has been increased to ₹280 and for bus/truck to ₹590 and the maximum toll for heavy vehicles with 7 or more axles has been increased to ₹590. Those going from Ghaziabad to Meerut will now have to pay ₹75 toll instead of ₹70.
The effect of the change in toll tax will also be seen on Delhi-Jaipur Highway and NH-44 route
From April 1, new toll tax rates will be applicable at Kherki Daula, Gharaunda and Ghaggar toll plazas.
Gharaunda Toll Plaza
New toll tax rates have been implemented at Gharaunda toll plaza. Here the one-way toll will be ₹195 and the toll for both ways will be ₹290. Apart from this, the price of toll pass for heavy vehicles like bus and truck has been increased from ₹21,000 to ₹21,750. Local residents will also have to pay ₹5 to ₹10 more than before.
Ghaggar Toll Plaza
Changes have been made in the toll tax at Ghaggar Toll Plaza as well. Here the toll for car, jeep and van has been increased by ₹5. Apart from this, the monthly pass will become costlier by ₹145 while the price of the pass for bus and truck will be ₹475.
Kherki Daula Toll Plaza
The toll for large vehicles at Kherki Daula toll plaza has been increased by ₹5 and this increase will also be applicable on the return journey, which means that there will be an additional cost of ₹10 on a two-way journey. Apart from this, the price of monthly pass has been increased from ₹930 to ₹950. Monthly pass for commercial car/jeep will cost ₹1255 and LMV/minibus drivers will have to pay ₹125.
Varanasi-Gorakhpur and Rohtak
5% increase in toll rates on Varanasi-Gorakhpur NH-29 Expressway will be applicable from April 1. Apart from this, new rates will also be applicable at Makhadauli and Madina toll plazas in Rohtak city of Haryana. Here car drivers will have to pay ₹5 extra while bus and truck owners will have to pay ₹10 more.
