About The Case
According to the FIR, the complainant, Rajkumar Chaube, 37, a resident of Sakinaka, operates a mobile repair business. On March 30, he was on his way with his brother-in-law, Ankit Chaubey, to attend a programme organised by his friend Sujit Bose, a resident of Pimpripada, Malad East, on the occasion of Gudi Padwa. Some other friends joined him on the way. Since Chaube knew the route, he was ahead of the group. At around 5:30 pm, as he reached Ranisati Marg, Malad East, he heard someone say, "Beat all of them who are wearing orange clothes."
Fearing trouble, Chaube went to Pathanwadi, Malad East, where he saw around ten unidentified people attacking his friends, who were sitting in an auto-rickshaw. When Chaube attempted to intervene, a youth verbally abused, beat, and said, "Why did you people come into this crowd?" The attackers were reportedly wearing white kurtas and net caps.
Chaube's acquaintance, Sujit Sharma, immediately rushed to a police van parked nearby and informed the police about the incident. The police promptly arrived at the scene and managed to separate the attackers from Chaube and his friends. Following this, Chaube was taken to Trauma Care Hospital, Jogeshwari East, for treatment in a police van.
Later, when Chaube reviewed the video footage of the incident, he identified Arshan Sheikh as the person who had beaten him with a wooden stick. He also noted that 8 to 10 other individuals were involved in the attack.
Gautam Ravria, Konkan Prant Co-organiser of Bajrang Dal, stated, "We are demanding strict action against the accused. The police should arrest them immediately. We have informed the police that the festivals of Ram Navami and Ram Janmotsav are approaching and should be celebrated without fear."
