Kamal Haasan starred in the never-completed Marudhanayagam. While Nasar Vishnuvardhan and Satyaraj also played an important role in it. A real story of the freedom fighter Marudhanayagam was a biographical film. This film was based on the life of 18th century freedom fighter Marudhanayagam Pillai. In 1997 Marudhanayagam was to be made with a budget of approximately 85 crores. According to reports if this amount is considered in todays terms it will reach more than 600 crores. The lead role was offered to a Hollywood actress It is said that popular Hollywood actress Kate Winslet was offered the lead role of Marsha in the film which she refused to do. According to reports megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Thalaivar Rajinikanth were offered cameo roles in the film. Three countries were jointly making Marudhanayagam Marudhanayagam was being produced jointly by Indian French and English production houses. It is believed that if this film had been released it would have proved to be a bigger box office hit than Baahubali 2. Why could Marudhanayagam not be completed?
