Tel Aviv: Israel’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security is developing a plan for allocating quotas for the import of honey free of customs taxes in an effort to lower honey costs in the country while preserving domestic production.
Through a competitive procedure, the ministry will distribute 580 tons of honey in jars for import, 400 tons of which will be used for the autumn Jewish festivals.
Additionally, the ministry will provide marketers with 2,000 tons of honey in accumulators, with the marketer agreeing to sell the honey to retail chains at a predetermined price.
In addition to offering a way to market honey at a reduced price throughout the rest of the year, the outline permits Israeli citizens to enjoy honey at a reduced price during the fall holidays. This will enable marketers to continue receiving honey from growers and beekeepers and to continue producing high-quality Israeli honey without endangering pollen, the main public product.
