It has become something of an for problem-solvers - in fact, hundreds of thousands make it part of their daily routine.

But Wordle's creator, software engineer Josh Wardle, had originally only shared it with family and friends. Once word spread (pun intended!), its popularity rocketed and .

Wordle is now one of the biggest search trends on as players desperately look for hints and clues to the daily goal - a five-letter word. Players get six attempts to guess what it is by entering letters into a grid (the grid tiles change colour to indicate whether or not the letter is in the word, and if it's in the right place).
