After scrapping the vehicle, a certificate will be given to its owner. When the vehicle owner goes to buy a new vehicle, he will have to show that certificate. After showing the scrap certificate of old vehicles, a subsidy of Rs 50,000 will be issued.
How many vehicles have been sent to scrap so far?
The Delhi Transport Department canceled the licenses of 48,77,646 vehicles in the financial year 2021-22 seized about 5,000 vehicles and sent them for scrap. Similarly, in the financial year 2022-23, 6,18,192 vehicles were de-registered and 1,35,419 vehicles were scrapped. In the year 2023-24, about 2 lakh vehicles were de-registered and 14,000 vehicles were scrapped. At the same time, about 3 lakh vehicles have been de-registered in the financial year 2024-25.
What will happen from April 1?
According to the Transport Department of the Delhi Government, so far about 5.10 lakh vehicle owners have taken NOC.
