Malaika Arora , who has her perfect dance moves and robust personality as a reality show judge, shared her opinion on the recent controversy regarding reality shows being scripted. Discussing the controversy, she brought to the forefront the question of whether drama is required in such shows and how it unfolds in the industry.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Malaika did admit that people are cynical when it comes to reality television. While others feel that reality programs tend to seem scripted, she stressed the aspect of genuineness.

"To a commoner, it would look scripted. At times, it looks like that. We get agitated if it is dramatic. We want things to be real. In Hip Hop India 2 (which she is judging), there is no rona-dhona (crying), so here, we have kept the drama aside," she said.

With experience as a mentor and judge on various reality television programs, Malaika has seen how contestants will try to incorporate emotions, feeling that it will be better for TV. She is convinced that talent always comes first.

"Yes, you can see that.". It can be seen that thoda zyada kar raha hai because they have seen plenty of reality TV to know that this is happening in a certain direction, but we stop them. 'Band karo isse, yeh drama mat karo. Ye banaawat nahin hoga yahan par' (Stop this, don't do this drama. This pretence won't work here). Let's stick to dance and not drama. Let the dance speak for itself," Malaika insisted.

The controversy surrounding scripted reality shows flared up again recently when a photo of the set of Indian Idol went viral on Reddit. The photo featured veteran actress Hema Malini holding what seemed to be a script with her precise dialogues. The person who posted the photo captioned, "Found this frame of Hema Malini holding the detailed script of last week's episode of Indian Idol. This is for those who still believe these shows are real."
