Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal’s Hera Pheri remains one of the best-loved comedy franchises in Hindi cinema. Fans were elated to hear that the actors were set to reunite for the third part of the series. However, there has been little update on Hera Pheri 3 since then. Now, director Priyadarshan has spilled the beans on the upcoming instalment.

In a recent interview, Priyadarshan said that scripting for Hera Pheri 3 was set to start next year.

Talking to ETV Bharat, Priyadarshan said that he plans to start writing the script sometime next year.

"I plan to start work, start writing Hera Pheri 3 sometime next year. It is going to be very challenging to make the third part because there will be too many expectations," the Hungama director said.

The Hulchul director said that while people are eagerly waiting for Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty to make them roll with laughter again, it is tougher to direct a comedy compared to a horror or any other kind of movie. Priyadarshan said that what is considered humorous by society has also undergone a change and he will have to keep a lot of things in mind while writing the next part.

“I am taking it as a challenge. Let's see how it works. Definitely some situations will be exaggerated and people should feel that this could happen. Once I put the pen to paper only then I would know. I have to really fight out the challenge and make a good script,” Priyadarshan said.

Priyadarshan’s next venture

The director is set to reunite with Hera Pheri actors Akshay Kumar and Tabu for the horror-comedy Bhoot Bangla. The film also features Rajpal Yadav, Paresh Rawal, Wamiqa Gabbi, Jisshu Sengupta and Mithila Palkar in pivotal roles. The movie will be released in 2026.

The first movie - Hera Pheri - was directed by Priyadarshan. It was a remake of the Malayalam movie Ramji Rao Speaking. The movie starred Akshay Kumar as Raju, Paresh Rawal as Babu Rao, and Suniel Shetty as Shyam. The second part was directed by Neeraj Vora. The third part will see Priyadarshan reuniting with his Hera Pheri lead actors- Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal.
