New Delhi: Punjab Kings registered a commanding 8-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants in their IPL 2025 clash at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. Chasing a target of 172 PBKS displayed an authoritative batting performance led by a stunning knock from Prabhsimran Singh to seal the win in just 15.5 overs. After being put into bat by Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer Lucknow Super Giants got off to a poor start. Mitchell Marsh was dismissed for a golden duck in the very first over by Arshdeep Singh. Aiden Markram tried to provide stability with a quick 28 off 18 but fell to Lockie Ferguson leaving LSG at 32/2. Things got worse when captain Rishabh Pant struggling for form managed just 2 runs before being caught by Chahal off Maxwell’s bowling. By the end of the powerplay LSG had slumped to 35/3. Middle-Order Resistance Led by Pooran and Badoni Nicholas Pooran counterattacked with a blistering 44 off 30 balls hitting five boundaries and two sixes. He formed a crucial partnership with Ayush Badoni who played a composed knock of 41 off 33. However Punjab continued to strike at key moments with Maxwell dismissing Pooran and Arshdeep removing Badoni in the 19th over. David Miller (19 off 18) and Abdul Samad (27 off 12) attempted to accelerate in the death overs but Punjab’s disciplined bowling restricted LSG to 171/7 in 20 overs. Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers for PBKS taking 3/30 in his four overs while Marco Jansen and Maxwell also made vital breakthroughs. Prabhsimran’s Power-Hitting Puts PBKS in Control Punjab Kings came out with intent in their chase. Priyansh Arya fell early for 8 caught by Shardul Thakur off Digvesh Rathi but that was the only hiccup in an otherwise flawless chase. Wicketkeeper-batter Prabhsimran Singh took the attack to the LSG bowlers smashing 69 off just 34 balls with nine fours and three sixes. His aggressive stroke play ensured PBKS stayed ahead of the required run rate. Iyer and Wadhera Finish the Job After Prabhsimran’s dismissal at 110/2 in the 11th over captain Shreyas Iyer and Nehal Wadhera took control. Iyer played a composed knock of 46 off 28 while Wadhera remained unbeaten on 43 off 24. The duo guided PBKS home comfortably in just 15.5 overs. Punjab Kings Stay Strong LSG Left Searching for Answers Digvesh Rathi was the only LSG bowler to create an impact picking up both wickets but the rest of the attack struggled against PBKS’s dominant batting display. With this emphatic win Punjab Kings strengthened their position in IPL 2025 while LSG will need to reassess their bowling strategies and look for a comeback in their next match.
