Mithun Chakraborty has the earned the name of being the star of the masses. Celebrated as an exceptional actor by his fans he also held the title of Disco King at one point in his career. There was a time when the actor held the record for the most consecutive flop films in the 1990s. Despite having the record for most flop films Mithun Chakraborty continues to maintain his superstardom. There was a time when one of his film Pyar Jhukta Nahin couldnt be released at the box office. Distributors were not ready for the films marketing which affected its release date. Before Pyar Jhukta Nahin Mithun garnered popularity for portraying key roles in massy entertainers. This film was a romantic drama and was completely different from his other filmographies. Reports claim that the distributors were actually scared whether Pyar Jhukta Nahin failed to be a success. They felt that audience would not accept him in a romantic drama.   However with no support around the producer of the film KC Bokadia released it himself. Unexpected it was Pyar Jhukta Nahin earned favourable reviews from the masses and critics. Made on a production budget of Rs 50 lakh it earned Rs 4.5 crore becoming the third-highest grossing movie of 1985. A remake of the Pakistani film Aina Pyar Jhukta Nahin starred Mithun Chakraborty and Padmini Kolhapure in lead roles. Helmed by Vijay Sadanah writer SH Bihari received widespread recognition for the film. The film was later remade in Kannada (Nee Bareda Kadambari) Tamil (Naan Adimai Illai) and Telugu (Pachani Kapuram) as well.
