April Fool's Day did not dissapoint this year. Jesters worldwide pulled pranks on unsuspecting friends and family. Those who forgot to mark their calendars were probably duped by a sly joke or two.
The date has historical roots, with an 1851 excerpt from a British Journal stating: "April fool's gone past, you're the biggest fool at last." The true beginnings of April Fool's Day remain a puzzle, though it resembles ancient celebrations like Rome's Hilaria and India's Holi festival. In the present day, even big brands and online entities jump on the bandwagon, crafting clever hoaxes to showcase their products in a humorous light.
Last year, broadcaster Jeremy Vine got in on the fun with a video featuring a hawk attacking his drone over Hyde Park. Meanwhile, Gymbox, a trendy London gym chain, introduced Gymbarx, a fitness class designed for dogs and their human companions.
Here the Express looked at the best pranks from the day.
