LSG vs. PBKS, IPL 2025: Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) decisive eight-wicket victory against Lucknow Super Giants in the current Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Tuesday was anchored by Prabhsimran Singh’s blistering 69, Shreyas Iyer’s fifty, and “Impact Sub” Nehal Wadhera’s powerful cameo.

In the garb of pure perfection and delicate taste, Prabhsimran’s very outstanding innings set the stage for PBKS’s successful chase, while Wadehra’s controlled aggressiveness and skipper Shreyas Iyer’s knock for an easy win provided the final touches.

Captain Shreyas was the icing on the cake after leading the chase with an incredible innings and hitting a massive six off the last ball of the over to get his second fifty of the season.

Punjab got off to a fast start chasing a goal of 172 on a track that provided grip and varying bounce thanks to Prabhsimran, who destroyed the LSG bowling attack with nine fours and three sixes in the opening ten overs, essentially ending the match.

After that, it was a cinch for his captain, Shreyas Iyer (52 not out off 30 balls), and the chase was over in 16.2 overs, adding to the troubles of an uninspired LSG captain, Rishabh Pant.

After struggling at first, young Nehal Wadhera (43 not out off 25 balls) also gained some confidence-boosting runs in the latter stages. In the two Powerplays when the home team was outplayed, the game was won and lost.

After losing three of their top-order players, they were reduced to 39 for 3 in the batting Powerplay, which meant the middle order had a lot of work ahead of them.

Whether it was the pacers Arshdeep Singh (3/43 in 4 overs), Lockie Ferguson (1/26 in 3 overs), Marco Jansen (1/28 in 4 overs), or the spinners Glenn Maxwell (1/22 in 3 overs) and Yuzvendra Chahal (1/36 in 4 overs), Punjab’s bowling performance was a team effort.

Prabhsimran dominated both pacers and spinners when Punjab Kings batted, accounting for 45 of the 62 runs the visitors amassed in their first six overs.

In this IPL, LSG’s bowling attack seems to be the worst. Due to Mayank Yadav’s prolonged absence and the surprisingly bad season of major spinner Ravi Bishnoi, the team’s bowling options seem to be falling short.

Prior to this, Punjab Kings benefited from an outstanding bowling performance in the Powerplay, as the Lucknow Super Giants scored a respectable 171 for 7.
