The Met Office has sounded the alarm by issuing an amber wildfire warning for numerous parts of Britain, citing the extended spell of warm as the cause.

This advanced caution spans most of England, including hotspot areas like London, Dover in Kent, and Wiltshire. It's set to broaden its reach into Northern Ireland and southern come Wednesday.

In the wake of ongoing balmy conditions, which are predicted to persist this week and see temperatures soar to a peak of 22C on Friday, fire services are on high alert. They're calling on citizens to exercise utmost care in forestalling any outbreak of wildfires.

Kathryn Chalk, a meteorologist at the , underlined the situation: "With strong winds and ongoing dry/warm weather this brings a continued likelihood for wildfire conditions through the period."

Chalk further elaborated, "There is currently an amber fire danger rating across England extending into Northern Ireland and the rest of southern Scotland on Wednesday."

Casting a silver lining, she mentioned: "However, showers moving into the far South West will bring some relief to these parts. Then dry weather continues Friday and Saturday extending further north across western Scotland."

Highlighting the vastness of the affected zone, she noted, "It's a large England warning, covering most of England."

Recognizing the unpredictable nature of such disasters, she stressed: "We can't be specific on locations due to the nature of wildfires though, and best to stick with the weather conditions with the dry air, breezy and warm conditions, hence the warning, with slightly cooler conditions with the onshore breeze along eastern coasts."

The London Fire Brigade has issued a stark warning that despite cooler temperatures compared to the summer months, the risk of wildfires remains high due to the drier spring. They're calling on the public to avoid using disposable barbecues and to be mindful when disposing of cigarettes, matches, and litter.

London Fire Brigade's assistant commissioner Paul McCourt has urged Londoners to enjoy the sunshine responsibly: "We want everyone to enjoy the sunshine but we urge people to take the necessary precautions to stay safe and help prevent a grass fire from starting."

He highlighted the urgency by referencing recent incidents abroad: "Recent events in Los Angeles and South Korea have demonstrated how rapidly fires can spread outdoors, even when temperatures are not at their highest."

With an amber wildfire warning in effect for London, McCourt advised: "The Met Office has issued an amber wildfire warning, covering London, and this will be in place for the rest of the week."

As the weekend approaches, he stressed the importance of fire safety: "As the weather warms up and we head towards Friday and the weekend, we would urge Londoners not to have barbecues in open spaces or on balconies, including disposable barbecues, to throw rubbish away, and to dispose of cigarettes carefully to avoid inadvertently starting a fire."

McCourt also mentioned collaborative efforts to manage the situation: "We're also working closely with partners, such as local authorities, to help manage the risks in outdoor spaces and ensure the public are following the safety advice."
