Electricity Bills to Rise in Haryana with Revised Tariff Structure for 2025-26

Haryana: Electricity consumers in Haryana will now have to shell out more for power, as the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) has announced a tariff hike for the 2025-26 financial year. The revised rates apply to both domestic and industrial categories, with an increase of 20 to 30 paise per kilowatt hour (kWh) / kVAH compared to last year.

According to reports from PTI, HERC has implemented a 20 paise per kWh increase for domestic consumers. The new rates will impact millions of households, leading to higher electricity bills across the state.

Revised Electricity Tariff for Domestic Consumers

Consumers in Haryana will now pay higher rates for power consumption. The updated rates are as follows:

  • 0-50 units: Increased from ₹2.00/kWh to ₹2.20/kWh.

  • 51-100 units: Increased from ₹2.50/kWh to ₹2.70/kWh.

New Tariff for Industrial Consumers

The industrial sector will also experience higher electricity costs:

  • 11 kVAh category: Increased from ₹6.65/kVAh to ₹6.95/kVAh.

  • Fixed charge: Increased from ₹165 per kVA per month to ₹290 per kVA per month.

Relief for Agricultural Consumers

On the other hand, agriculture consumers with metered connections will see some relief, as the Monthly Minimum Charge (MMC) has been reduced from ₹200 per BHP per annum to ₹180/144 per BHP per annum, depending on the load.

New Tariff Structure for Consumers with Load Above 5 kW

HERC has introduced a new category for consumers with a load exceeding 5 kW. The revised rates for this category are:

  • Up to 500 units: ₹6.50 per kWh

  • 501-1,000 units: ₹7.15 per kWh

  • Above 1,000 units: ₹7.50 per kWh

Additionally, a fixed charge of ₹50 per kWh has been imposed for consumption between 301-500 units and above 500 units.

Impact on Consumers

The increase in power tariffs will directly affect households and businesses, leading to higher electricity bills in Haryana. The move aims to balance power distribution costs and improve energy infrastructure, but it may pose financial challenges for many consumers.

With these new electricity rates in effect, Haryana residents should prepare for higher energy costs and consider adopting energy-saving measures to manage their consumption efficiently.
