IPL 2025: It could take some time for Jasprit Bumrah, a star bowler for India, to return to competitive cricket. At the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence, it should be mentioned that he has yet to be able to bowl at full capacity. The return of quick bowler and teammate Akash Deep has also been postponed by seven days.
The Times of India claims that even if Bumrah is clinically healthy since his workload has risen, there is a significant potential that he might suffer a stress fracture to his back. Additionally, Aakash Deep is recuperating from a back ailment. Since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia, none of the fast bowlers has played in any competitive cricket matches. In the fifth and final Test match in Sydney, Bumrah suffered a lower-back injury, while Akash Deep was unable to make the starting lineup due to some “discomfort” with his back.
Given that the Men in Blue will be facing England in a five-match Test series after the IPL, the BCCI medical staff decided to work closely with Bumrah. However, Bumrah’s participation in the Test series will not be a must for the team management or the selectors.
“Bumrah has a little more severe injury. The goal of the medical staff is to prevent a stress fracture. Even Bumrah is exercising caution. He is bowling for the CoE, but it could take more time for him to fully recover. Although there isn’t a defined timeframe yet, it is hoped that he returns by the middle of April. According to a BCCI source who spoke to PTI, Akash Deep too aims to return by April 10.
Meanwhile, Mayank Yadav, the top fast bowler for LSG, is recuperating at the same rate as Bumrah and Akash Deep. The bowling coach for CoE would be providing them with the final approval in accordance with the most recent standard operating procedure. While the medical team will determine if a player is healthy enough to participate in all high-performance sports, the bowling coach should determine whether a bowler is healthy enough to leave the CoE.
