After the results of SSC CGL 2024, there has been confusion among many candidates about the normalization process. Many candidates are questioning its fairness and accuracy. The goal of normalization is to balance the difference in the level of the exam in different shifts. Which can lead to unexpected changes in marks.
Exams are conducted in different shifts in which there is variation in the difficulty of question papers. Normalization is a statistical formula applied to remove this variation to ensure equal opportunity for all candidates.
The process of normalization is based on the basic assumption that the distribution of abilities of candidates in multi-shift exams is the same in all shifts. This assumption is considered reasonable because a large number of candidates appear in different shifts in the examinations conducted by the Commission.
SSC Commission uses these formulas for the final score of the candidates-
Under the normalization process, the numbers are counted up to five decimal places.
