The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) became the third IPL team this season to express frustration over their home pitch, following similar concerns raised by Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings. After an eight-wicket loss to Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Ekana Stadium, LSG mentor Zaheer Khan shared his disappointment about the pitch conditions.
Speaking after the match, Zaheer suggested the pitch did not reflect a home advantage and criticized the approach of the curator.
Before the match, Zaheer was seen speaking with LSG captain Rishabh Pant near the pitch. Zaheer noted that they had to rely on the curator’s judgment. Despite expectations for a slow wicket that would favor LSG, the PBKS batters chased down 172 with ease, finishing the match with 22 balls remaining. Spinner Ravi Bishnoi struggled, conceding 43 runs in three overs.
Zaheer explained,
LSG’s record at the Ekana Stadium is now 7 wins from 15 completed games. Across those games, a team has scored 200+ only once. Zaheer highlighted that the pitch isn’t favoring the home side and called for adjustments going forward.
Despite the loss, Zaheer remains confident in the team’s mindset and strategy.
LSG have lost two of their first three matches this season but aim to bounce back with six more home games left.
