Sumona Chakravarti has gained huge popularity after she played the role of Kapil Sharma's wife in his comedy shows. The actress recently opened up about how the shows gave her financial stability.

Sumona shared that she was part of Kapil Sharma's shows for 10 years and is grateful that she could buy a house in Mumbai from her earnings from the shows. Not only that, the Television star recalled the time when she visited Thailand and understood the popularity of the shows.

In an interview with SCREEN, Sumona Chakravarti said, "It has given me a lot and yet its been a double-edged sword. The show was a good ten years for me. It is a very long time. I was financially stable. I come from a very simple middle-class Bengali family. I could afford to buy a house in Mumbai because of that show. I am very grateful. Financial freedom for women today is very important."

She also added, "It is also the immense love and popularity that the show has given me across the world. The show has been dubbed in Thai. I was at a Thai restaurant, and it so happened that my local Indian-Thai friend came to me and said, 'All the server and host want to take a picture with you.' They were all Thai. I wondered why, then they showed me the show's clip. It was ridiculously funny to watch me speaking Thai in the show."

Notably, Sumona has worked with Kapil Sharma since the inception of his shows, such as Comedy Nights With Kapil and The Kapil Sharma Show. But, she was not part of the Netflix show The Great Indian Kapil Show. According to some reports, the actress did not leave the show but was rather not informed about the Netflix show, while she was shooting for Khatron Ke Khiladi 14 in Romania.
