Mumbai Indians fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah may take some more time to return. He has not yet been declared fully fit by the Center of Excellence (COE) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). However, a video is going viral on social media in which Bumrah is seen bowling at the nets. At the same time, Lucknow Super Giants fast bowler Akash Deep can join the team soon.

When will Bumrah and Akash Deep return?

According to the Times of India report, Bumrah is fully fit but the BCCI medical team believes that the increase in the workload of the fast bowler can prove to be a danger signal for him. Therefore, for the time being, he has been advised to stay in the BCCI Center of Excellence (COE). He can return by mid-April. Apart from this, the ESPNcricinfo report states that fast bowler Akash Deep can join Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday. He can be seen playing in the match against Mumbai Indians on Friday.

Source's statement
Talking about Bumrah's health, a BCCI source said - Bumrah's injury is a bit serious. The medical team wants to ensure that he does not get a stress fracture. Bumrah himself is also taking precautions. He is bowling in the COE, but it may take him longer to be fully fit. No specific timeline has been set yet, but it is expected that he will be fit by mid-April.

Bumrah has been out since January
Bumrah has not been able to play competitive matches since January 2025. He played in the fifth and final match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. However, he bowled only in the first innings, after which he could not play further. Bumrah was also initially selected for the Champions Trophy, but later Harshit Rana was given a chance in his place. Bumrah has not yet joined the Mumbai team for the 18th season of the IPL, but after he started bowling, it is expected that he can return to the field soon.

Akash Deep can debut for Lucknow in the match against Mumbai.
Akash Deep was also injured during the Border Gavaskar Trophy last year. He had a back injury. He has not played any match since December. Now the news has come that he can be seen playing in the match to be played against Mumbai in Lucknow on April 4. Lucknow Super Giants bought him for Rs 8 crore in the mega auction of IPL 2025. Earlier, the 28-year-old bowler was part of RCB. He has taken a total of seven wickets in eight matches for this team.
