Veteran actor director and producer Ramesh Sippy who gave cinema lovers the cult classic film Sholay in 1975 was honored with the Padma Shri Award by the Government of India. He also directed superhit movies like Andaz Seeta Aur Geeta and more. Do you know Ramesh Sippy had a beautiful relationship with the Kapoor family? The filmmaker who directed Shammi Kapoor in 1971 for Andaz and Rishi Kapoor in 1985 for Saagar became a part of the Kapoor family.
How is Ramesh Sippy in relation with the Kapoor family?
Ramesh Sippy directed Shashi Kapoor in 1980s Shaan. The movie also featured Sunil Dutt and Amitabh Bachchan Shatrughan Sinha Raakhee Gulzar Parveen Babi Bindiya Goswami Mazhar Khan and Kulbhushan Kharbanda. Shaan was the most expensive Indian film made until then and was an average performer at the box-office upon initial release but did good business during re-runs. Made on a budget of Rs 42 million the film earned Rs 120 million.
Sippy has three children his son Rohan is a film director. His daughter Sheena is a Bombay-based portrait photographer designer and creative consultant. Sheena married to Shashi Kapoors son Kunal Kapoor and have two children son Zahan Kapoor and daughter Shaira. Kunal and Sheenaa divorced in 2004.
Zahan their son was recently seen in Black Warrant and made his debut with the 2022 film Faraaz. In an interview he spoke about being part of the Kapoor family saying It has made me focus deeply on my work and craft above all else because I am not here to chase fame and recognition.
