Laxyaraj Singh Mewar Gaddi Festival : After the demise of former royal family member Arvind Singh Mewar, as per tradition, the Gaddi Utsav is being held today on the occasion of Chaitra Shukla Panchami at the City Palace. The tradition of placing former royal family member Laxyaraj Singh Mewar on the throne has begun. The havan pujan has started from 9.30 in the morning. This historic ceremony is being organized by the Kul Guru of Mewar who has been performing rituals for the former royal family for 350 years. The preparations for the event were finalized on Tuesday evening.
Preparations have been made on a large scale in the City Palace for the Gaddi Utsav celebrations. Eminent people are expected to attend the celebrations and invitations have been sent to them. White kurta-pyjama has been prescribed for men attending the event and white suits or traditional white dresses for women.

It is noteworthy that former royal family member Arvind Singh Mewar passed away on March 16. While people from all over Mewar participated to bid him farewell, during the last 15 days people from all over the country reached the City Palace and expressed condolences. As per the tradition of the City Palace, Arvind Singh's son Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar will take over the responsibility.
The Central Mewar Kshatriya Mahasabha Institute has objected to the City Palace event being termed as Gaddi Utsav. Central President Ashok Singh Metwala said that the Gaddi Dastur of former royal family member Vishvraj Singh took place on 25 November 2024 at Chittorgarh Fort as per tradition. The institute's objection is that the rituals that have been done as per tradition, happen only with the successor of the former royal family. No one else has the right to call it Gaddi Dastur. It is completely inappropriate and against social traditions. In this way, calling someone's personal program Gaddi Dastur is a tampering with tradition, which is absolutely wrong.
