Billionaire Narayana Murthy-led Infosys has filed fresh charges against Cognizant in a US district court accusing the US-based tech firm of anti-competitive practices and using its monopoly to stifle competition. According to a report the Indian IT giant has alleged that Cognizant Technology Solutions leveraged its monopoly power to stifle competition and maintain dominance in the healthcare software market through its platform Cognizant TriZetto Software Group. What are the charges against Cognizant? In the fresh round of charges filed in a district court in Dallas Texas Infosys alleged that Cognizant engaged in anti-competitive practices including charging inflated prices to customers by reducing output and blocking competitors from entering the market The Economic Times reported. Further the Narayana Murthy-led company has accused the US firm of using restrictive non-disclosure agreements (NDAAs) and withholding training on its software products QNXT and Facets. The filing also accuses Cognizant of inducing disloyal behaviour from key Infosys employees to obstruct the growth of Helix Infosyss healthcare platform the report said. Infosys has also accused Cognizant of employing exclusionary tactics such as the use of most favored vendor (MFV) agreements to maintain its market dominance according to the 35-page filing submitted in the Dallas district court on March 31. The Indian IT firm has termed Cognizants actions as attempted monopolization and unreasonable restraint of trade and requested the court to deny the US firms motion to dismiss the case. Infosys vs Cognizant The matter dates back to August 2024 when Cognizant alleged that Infosys had stolen its trade secrets related to TriZetto. In January 2025 Infosys filed a antitrust counterclaim accusing Cognizant of using anti-competitive market practices that hindered fair competition. The Narayana Murthy-led firm also accused Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S of deliberately delaying the launch of Infosys Helix during his tenure at Infosys and poaching key executives after joining Cognizant in January 2023. Cognizant has rejected all charges levelled by Infosys as preposterous and absurd accusing the Indian IT firm of misusing its intellectual property. Cognizant asserts that it believes in fair market competition but wont tolerate misuse of its proprietary information. Notably Infosys and Cognizant have a long-standing rivalry as both IT giants compete to capture the second spot in Indias IT services export market
