Rajasthan News: Giving a big gift to its employees, the Rajasthan government has implemented the increased limit of gratuity from January 1, 2024. With this, all the employees retiring after January 2024 will get the benefit of gratuity up to a maximum of Rs 25 lakh. The government has issued its order on April 1, 2025.

Let us tell you, Bhajanlal government had already increased the maximum limit of gratuity from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh, but its effective date was fixed as 1 April 2024. Now the government has amended it and issued an order to implement it from January 1, 2024.

Who all will be benefited?

Employees retiring between 1 January 2024 and 31 March 2024 will get direct benefit from this decision. The benefit of the increased limit of gratuity will be available at par with the central government employees. With this decision of the government, the state employees will get an additional gratuity of up to Rs 5 lakh.

Deputy CM Bairwa announced

After the cabinet meeting on March 8, Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa had said that the Bhajanlal government had made this announcement in the budget, which has now been implemented. With this, the state employees will get the benefit of gratuity on the lines of the central government. This decision of the Rajasthan government will benefit the employees who retired between January and March 2024, which will put an additional financial burden of about Rs 24 crore on the state treasury.

What is gratuity?

Gratuity is a retirement benefit, which is given under the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972. An employee who has served for more than 5 years in any institution is considered entitled to gratuity. This benefit is given in cases of leaving the job, retirement or death. It is mandatory for institutions with 10 or more employees to pay gratuity. In the event of death of the employee, the amount of gratuity is given to his nominee.
