Kalki Koechlin talks about the backstage preparation before her runway walk, her favourite fashion icons and more.

The 25th anniversary of Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI was a night to remember, especially as Max Fashion made its highly anticipated debut on the prestigious runway. Bringing energy, elegance, and individuality to the stage was none other than Kalki Koechlin, the actor and changemaker who effortlessly personified the brand’s bold new campaign — ‘New New You’.

Max Fashion’s collection was all about embracing transformation, expression, and versatility — and Kalki was the perfect muse. Known for her fearless choices and ever-evolving persona, she took center stage in a statement look that celebrated rebellion, ease, and timeless charm. From structured co-ords to flowing dresses, the showcase reflected Max Fashion’s commitment to making high-street fashion more accessible, stylish, and wearable for everyone.

But behind the stunning visuals and applause, Kalki shared an honest and relatable side to her runway experience.

“Oh, I was nervous before the show!” she said candidly in an exclusive post-walk conversation. “We were told we had a lot of time, so I sat down for lunch. Then suddenly they said we only had five minutes left. Everything was rushed — makeup, hair, dress — and I had to run. I hate being rushed! But the moment I’m backstage and hear the music, it all melts away. You get excited to be on stage, and everything just flows.”

Despite the last-minute chaos, Kalki’s walk was poised and powerful. The audience was captivated as she glided down the ramp in a look that captured the essence of Max Fashion’s Sicilian Summer and Amalfi Escape collections — from sun-kissed hues and breezy fabrics to bold prints and coastal-chic silhouettes.

In our chat, Kalki also opened up about her style inspirations and fashion preferences. When asked who she thought was currently ruling the fashion scene, her answer was immediate and heartfelt:

“Rekha is amazing. One love. And even Zeenat Aman is doing some really cool things right now. I love how they’ve stayed so true to themselves while evolving with the times.”

Her fashion philosophy? Keep it real and keep it comfortable.

“A trend I really don’t understand? Those really high pencil heels. Why torture ourselves?”

And for those wondering about a go-to wardrobe essential, she had a timeless suggestion:

“Plain whites. Whether it’s a shirt, kurta, or tee — white always looks crisp, fresh, and effortlessly stylish.”

As Max Fashion continues to expand its footprint across 210+ cities with 520+ stores and an ever-growing online presence, this LFW debut marked a significant milestone. Kalki’s presence on the ramp reinforced the brand’s vision — style that is bold, inclusive, and always evolving.

In her own words, it wasn’t just a walk — it was a moment of transformation.
