21:00 – Ray Vallecano vs Espanyol

Despite some serious selection issues, Rayo won 2-0 on the road at Alaves last time out to boost their European hopes. Florian Lejeune is still sure to retake his place in defence following suspension on Friday. There may be one or two other changes too, with Isi Palazon potentially returning to the starting XI in place of Oscar Trejo.

Rayo Vallecano predicted lineup: A. Garcia, Isi Palazon, Of Fruits – Nteka

Espanyol are one of the most settled sides in LaLiga right now in terms of their starting lineup. After a good point against Atletico Madrid last time out, there’s little reason to think Manolo Gonzalez will make any changes here.

Espanyol predicted lineup: J. Garcia-Romero, Cabrera, Kumbulla, El Hilali-Gonzalez de Zarate, Lozano, Kral-Puado, R. Fernandez, Jofre (4-3-3)

The League predictions

Saturday 5th April 2025

14:00 – Girona vs Alaves

After scoring in Barcelona, and with Abel Ruiz and Bojan Miovski still injury doubts, Arnaut Danjuma should lead the line again for Girona this weekend. Michel has slightly more availability this time around, with Donny van de Beek among the options to come into a struggling side that could really do with a win here. Oriol Romeu is also available again following his ineligibility against his parent club last time out.

Girona predicted lineup: Gazzzaniga-M. Gutierrez, Blind, Krejci, A. Martinez-Herrera, Arthur-Asprilla, Van De Beek, Tsygankov-Danjuma (4-2-3-1)

Alaves look set to battle for safety until potentially the final weekend, and Chacho Coudet will want a response here after a poor result last time out. He’ll need to make one change to the side that lost to Rayo due to Nahuel Tenaglia’s suspension. Hugo Novoa may come in, although Coudet may instead opt to move Santiago Mouriño to right-back. Carlos Martin, Toni Martinez and Carlos Vicente are all strong contenders to be recalled to the starting XI.

Alaves predicted lineup: Aleña, Jordan, C. Vicente – C. Martin, Kike Garcia

16:15 – Real Madrid vs Valencia

Real Madrid continue to unconvince, but they remain right in the hunt for three trophies after edging out Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey on aggregate, following a 4-4 draw at the Bernabeu in midweek. They’ll now face Barcelona in a clasico final later this month.

Carlo Ancelotti has some decisions to make ahead of this game on whether to rest any players ahead of Tuesday’s trip to the Emirates. Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo could both potentially drop to the bench. There’s also major uncertainty in goal with Andriy Lunin and Thibaut Courtois both injury doubts, with 19-year-old Fran Gonzalez on standby to start if neither recover.

Real Madrid predicted lineup: Lunin

Valencia took another step towards safety with a 1-0 win at home to Mallorca last time out. Carlos Corberan has really turned the fortunes of this side around, but Los Che still haven’t won away this term. Their chances here aren’t helped by suspensions for Jose Gaya, Dimitri Foulquier and Luis Rioja. Corberan has used a back five at times since taking charge at the turn of the year, with a repeat likely at the Bernabeu.

Valencia predicted lineup: Mamardashvili-Vazquez, Diakhaby, Tarrega, Mosquera, Aarons-Guerra, Barrenechea, Pepelou-D. LOPEZ, SADIQ (5-3-2)

18:30 – Mallorca vs Celta Vigo

Mallorca are another side with some really significant suspensions this weekend, with Antonio Raillo and Samu Costa both banned. A switch back to their usual 4-2-3-1 system is also likely, with Johan Mojica and Dani Rodriguez potentially returning on the left flank. Omar Mascarell should also come into the side to take Samu’s place.

Mallorca predicted lineup: Greif – Mojica, Copet,

Despite having 20 attempts to their opponents’ four, Celta could only draw 1-1 against Las Palmas last time out. Alfonso Gonzalez continued his good run with another goal which suggests he’s the most likely starter in attack for this game, with Iker Losada, Iago Aspas, Borja Iglesias and Fer Lopez all options for the other two places. Claudio Giraldez should have a full squad to pick from, with Williot Swedberg expected to be fit enough to make the bench.

Celta Vigo predicted lineup: Guaita-Alonso, Starfelt, Jailson-Mingueza, Moriba, D. Rodriguez, Career-Alfon, Losada-Iglesias (3-4-2-1)

21:00 – Barcelona vs Real Betis

Ferran Torres started and scored for Barcelona in their Copa del Rey semi-final in midweek, but it’s still likely that Robert Lewandowski will return up top here. Hansi Flick continues to be reluctant to rest Pedri, Lamine Yamal or Jules Kounde, but we may see some light rotation in this game. Raphinha got through 90 minutes against Atletico Madrid and should take up his place on the left flank having missed the last two league matches. It’s tough to know what Flick will do in central defence, with Pau Cubarsi, Eric Garcia, Ronald Araujo and Iñigo Martinez all vying for places.

Barcelona predicted lineup: Szczesny – Balde, Cubarsi, Araujo, Kound – Priddri, De Jong – Raphinha, Gavi, Yalmal – Lewandowski (4-2-2-3-1)

It’s six wins on the spin for Real Betis in LaLiga after derby delight against Sevilla last time out. They’re missing key man Isco this weekend though, with Giovani Lo Celso expected to take his place. Sergi Altimira is also an option to come into the midfield, most likely in place of Pablo Fornals.

Real Betis predicted lineup: Adrian-Rodriguez, Bartra, Llorente, Sabaly-Altimira, Cardoso-J. Rodriguez, Lo Celso, Antony-C. Hernandez (4-2-3-1)

14:00 – Las Palmas vs Real Sociedad

Las Palmas remain winless in 2025, and they are missing Jasper Cillessen who needed surgery this week after suffering a perforated intestine in a nasty collision last time out. Dinko Horkas should start the next few games in goal. Dario Essugo and Sandro Ramirez are also candidates for recalls here, while Andy Pelmard remains an injury doubt.

Las Palmas predicted lineup: Horkakas – Marmol, McKelna, A. Suarez, Rozada – Campaña, Essugo, J. Muñoz – Moleiro, F. Silva, McBurnid (4-3-3)

Real Sociedad have some fresh selection issues after a long night at the Bernabeu on Tuesday. Centre-back Nayef Aguerd is set to miss this game, while midfielder Martin Zubimendi is rated doubtful with a knee issue. Brais Mendez also misses out again. There are no more cup games for La Real, so Imanol has less reason to continue rotating his side, but injuries will force his hand in some areas here.

Real Sociedad predicted lineup: Remiro – J. Lopez, Elustondia, Zubeldia, Aramburu – Marin, Turrianz, Scic – S. Gomez, Oyarzabal, Cube (4-3-3)

16:15 – Sevilla vs Atletico Madrid

Garcia Pimienta will be hoping for a strong response from his side who were defeated by a resurgent Real Betis in the derby on Sunday. The Sevilla boss has midfielders Lucien Agoume and Djibril Sow available again here following suspensions, while Saul could also return with major changes expected in the centre of the pitch. The rest of the side could be unchanged.

Sevilla predicted lineup: Nyland – Pedrosa, Salis, Bad, Carmona – Sow, Agoume, Saul – Varga, Romero, Romero, Lukebai (4-3-3

After losing to Barca in midweek to exit the Copa del Rey, it feels very much like Atletico Madrid’s season is as good as over, with little chance of them overturning a nine-point deficit to win LaLiga over the final nine games. A season that promised much has unravelled very quickly, and Diego Simeone may freshen things up with a few changes here. Jose Maria Gimenez is suspended, so Clement Lenglet and Robin Le Normand should pair up in central defence.

Atletico Madrid predicted lineup: Oblak – Galan, Length, The Norman, Molina – French, Barrios, Paul, Simeone – Ocean, Griezmann (4-4-2)

18:30 – Real Valladolid vs Getafe

Karl Hein is another LaLiga number one who is currently sidelined. Youngster Arnau Rafus was preferred to Andre Ferreira at Real Sociedad last time out, and may keep his place here. The bottom club are also missing two players to suspension, with David Torres and Javi Sanchez both picking up their fifth bookings last time out.

Real Valladolid predicted lineup: RAFUS-AZNOU, Comert, Aidoo, Candela-Juric, Martin-Moro, Amallah, I. Sanchez-Latasa (4-2-3-1)

Getafe have been really enjoying life on the road of late, and they’ll certainly be targeting all three points again here. Pepe Bordalas has a full squad to pick from this weekend, and he should recall Ramon Terrats who was ineligible to face parent club Villarreal last time out, but scored twice at Osasuna the weekend before that. The Getafe boss remains surprisingly reluctant to use Borja Mayoral as a starter, so Juanmi may lead the line again. Christantus Uche should come back in following suspension.

Getafe predicted lineup: Soria-Rico, Duarte, you will relieve, Djene-Coba, Arambarri, Milla, Terrats-UCC-Juanmi (4-4-1)

21:00 – Villarreal vs Athletic Club

Two Champions League hopefuls clash at the Ceramica in this game and Villarreal are hoping to build on a good win on the road at Getafe last time out. Luiz Junior was preferred to Diego Conde in goal at the Coliseum, and the 24-year-old will be hoping for a run of starts now. Thierno Barry also looks likely to keep his place up top after starting and scoring in that match. Pape Gueye is available again, but it’s unclear whether he’ll get the nod in midfield over Dani Parejo or Santi Comesaña.

Villarreal predicted lineup: Junior-Cardona, Costa, Kambwala, Foyth-Baena, Parejo, Comesaña, Buchanan-Ayoze, Barry (4-4-2)

Dani Vivian and Oihan Sancet are both fit again for Athletic, and it’ll be up to Ernesto Valverde to decide whether to throw them both in here, or hold them back until the Europa League trip to Glasgow on Thursday. Alex Berenguer started in Sancet’s normal role last time out, but the Basques could opt for the more combative Unai Gomez for this tricky fixture as they look to disrupt Villarreal in the middle of the pitch, particularly given Iñigo Ruiz de Galarreta is an injury doubt.

Athletic Club predicted lineup: Simon-Yuri, Vivian, Yeray, De Marcos-Prados, Jauregizar-N. Williams, U. Gomez, I. Williams-Sannadi (4-2-3-1)

La Liga team news

Monday 7th April 2025

21:00 – Leganes vs osasuna

Leganes were surprisingly competitive at the Bernabeu last weekend, and while they ended up without any points, the performance would have encouraged Borja Jimenez. There could be just the one change here with the suspended Oscar Rodriguez set to miss out. Seydouba Cisse may come in.

Leganes predicted lineup: Dmitrovic-J. Hernandez, Nastasic, Sergio, Rosier-Neyou, Tapia-Raba, Cisse, Cruz-D. Garcia (4-2-3-1)

Bryan Zaragoza is nearing fitness again for Osasuna, but any return in this match would most likely come off the bench. Unai Garcia and Iker Muñoz are also rated doubtful. Vicente Moreno went with three centre-backs in Bilbao last time out, and having earned a good point, he may be reluctant to change too much. After a clean sheet, Aitor Fernandez will be hoping to keep his place in goal, although a return for Sergio Herrera still seems more probable.

Osasuna predicted lineup: Herrera-Herrando, Boyomo, Catena-Cruz, Torro, Moncayola, Areo-Oroz, Ruben Garcia-Budimir (3-4-2-1)
