New Delhi: The Andhra Cricket Association has invited the Sunrisers Hyderabad to make Visakhapatnam their home ground if they choose to move from Hyderabad. Reports indicate that the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) has proposed hosting SRHs remaining Visakhapatnam matches potentially mid-tournament and is offering tax incentives to the IPL team. The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are currently in disagreement over complimentary tickets a conflict that has prompted a proposal from the ACA. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) claims that the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) management has been demanding free tickets leading SRH to consider moving its home base out of Hyderabad. Following allegations Telanganas Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has initiated a vigilance investigation. Meanwhile the Andhra Cricket Association has offered support to the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) franchise should they choose to relocate from their current home ground the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal. The Delhi Capitals a team owned by the GMR Group also use the ACA-VDCA International Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam as a home ground. Visakhapatnam hosted two Indian Premier League (IPL) matches this season attracting large crowds to the DC vs LSG and DC vs SRH games. The opening match of the 2025 Womens World Cup is expected to be held in Port City. Recent renovations to Visakhapatnam Stadium funded by the Andhra Pradesh Cricket Association (ACA) included improvements to basic amenities such as restrooms and the addition of premium features like corporate boxes. Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) officials have stated that the limited seating capacity (28000) of Visakhapatnams stadium could result in approximately ₹3 crore in losses per Indian Premier League (IPL) match for franchises. To offset this the ACA is offering a SGST tax reduction of up to ₹1 crore per game. The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) would need to invest approximately 10 crore rupees to change the stadiums color scheme to reflect their branding if they relocate their home ground. The stadiums current design reflects the Delhi Capitals branding. Separately Visakhapatnam is a potential venue for the opening match of the 2025 Womens Cricket World Cup which India will host. Discussions are underway between Andhra Pradeshs government the Andhra Cricket Association the BCCI and the ICC to secure this event for the state. Andhra Pradeshs HRD Minister Nara Lokesh held several meetings with ICC chairman Jay Shah to advocate for improvements to the states cricket infrastructure including a new stadium. Shah reportedly impressed by Vizag Stadiums renovations indicated a preference for scheduling future matches in Visakhapatnam. Successful negotiations could lead to Visakhapatnam hosting the opening Womens World Cup match in September. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly considering adding more Twenty20 and One Day International matches to the schedule in Visakhapatnam. This aligns with the Andhra Cricket Associations (ACA) goal of increasing cricket events in the city particularly IPL matches including games featuring the Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad due to their significant local following.
