Madhubala was one of the highest paid actress during the 50s. She was widely known for her unparallel beauty and charm that got a long line of suitors waiting for her. Several actors were also smitten by her even Dilip Kumar. Dilip Kumar and Madhu were head over heels in love and were set to marry but fate had something else in store for them.
Madhubala had an illustrious career trajectory spanning over almost two decades wherein she worked in variety of genres from slapstick comedy romantic drama to period drama. She made her debut in 1942 with Basant that became a commercial success and eventually started working for the sake of her family. The Mughl-e-Azam actress was fifth of eleven children and had four sisters -Kaneez Fatima (born 1925) Altaf (born 1930) Chanchal (born 1934) and Zahida (born 1949). One of them also made a significant mark in the industry.

She was one of the famous Raj Kapoor heroines and essayed the character of Bijli in the iconic film that featured Raj Kapoor Padmini Pran among others.
