Following a battle with Bhubaneswar Police, two interstate looters were apprehended

Bhubaneswar After an incident with the police on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, two feared criminals were taken into custody.

The defendants, Manish and Sonu Yadav from Bihar’s Katihar area, were taken into custody late Thursday evening.

According to police, the suspects are members of a notorious chain snatching gang that operates in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha.

The police recognized the culprits and began their attempts to apprehend them after examining the CCTV video.

The pair’s bike collided with a concrete wall close to the city’s Bankuala neighborhood as they attempted to flee. The police retaliated when the crooks opened fire on them.

Prior to receiving treatment at SCB Medical College in Cuttack, the wounded looters were taken to the Capital Hospital.

“The accused used to reach their target destinations by train, commit crimes in the targeted city and return to Bihar,” according to the sources.

According to reports, the suspects were engaged in six instances of looting that occurred last month in the Puri region and Bhubaneshwar.

In this respect, a complaint has been filed at the Badagada Police Station.

“This chain snatchers’ gang has been on police radar for the past few days,” our Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh told reporters. On March 20, they arrived in Bhubaneshwar and carried out four snatching attacks there. Before leaving for Bihar, they traveled to Puri and carried out other snatching incidents there.

Singh went on to say that the accused committed the act using a stolen car. He said that when the suspects returned to Bhubaneswar on Thursday, police pursued them.

The Police Commissioner told the media that the two were shot in the legs during the police’s retaliatory shooting.

The looters’ 7.5 mm and 9 mm handguns have been confiscated by the police.

Commissioner Singh has threatened to take tough measures against lawbreakers who attempt to hurt the average person and disobey the police.
