Vaibhav Arora of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) put on an outstanding display against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Kolkata on Thursday, taking 3/29 in his four overs to assist his side win a vital match. Kolkata (West Bengal) [India].

After winning Player of the Match, Arora spoke at the post-match ceremony and emphasized the value of readiness and flexibility as impact replacements.

“I always plan to enter as the impact substitute. I look at the pitch from the outside to see whether it is swinging and if the ball is holding,” Arora said.

His success was largely due to his acute knowledge of the situation, which allowed him to strike at pivotal times to divert the opponents. The youthful seamer also explained how he bowls in the middle overs, when it’s important to use variations.

According to ESPNcricinfo, he said, “Yorkers and cutters are important in the fifth-sixth over as the ball doesn’t swing by then,” highlighting the significance of using his abilities under duress.

“We plan for different batters in our meetings, depending on who the batter is, whether he is likely to give the charge,” he said.

Arora once again shown his worth as a reliable bowling option for KKR with his game-winning stint, displaying poise and tactical knowledge under pressure.

Before the game, SRH won the toss and took the field first. Their choice seemed to be successful as they dismissed Sunil Narine and Quinton de Kock for single figures, cutting KKR to 16/2. However, they were able to rally with a counterattack from Rahane (38 in 27 balls, with four fours and four sixes) and Raghuvanshi (50 in 32 balls, with five fours and two sixes). Rinku Singh (32* in 17 balls, with four boundaries and a six) and Venkatesh Iyer (60 in 29 balls, with seven fours and three sixes) led KKR to 200/6 in their 20 overs with a 91-run partnership for the fifth wicket after the swift dismissal of these two stars.

Harshal Patel (1/43) and Mohammed Shami (1/29) were SRH’s best wicket-takers.

SRH lost wickets quickly and was never really in the game throughout the run-chase. Only Heinrich Klaasen (33 in 21 balls, with two fours and two sixes) and Kamindu Mendis (27 in 20 balls, with a four and two sixes) were able to surpass the 20-run threshold, making Vaibhav Arora (3/29) and Varun Chakravarthy (3/22) stand out.

After two victories and two defeats, KKR’s season is now mostly back on track with this victory. They hold the fifth position. With one victory and three defeats, SRH is in last place.
