“Tehtul E Ishq is extremely special to me because it’s my first song with extensive Urdu writing,” Subhi said in reference to the tune. I came up with the term itself; as “Tehtul” means “flow,” “Tehtul E Ishq” means “the flow of love.” The song examines the sensation of being totally engrossed in love, when the object of your affection determines what love is to you.

The song is further enhanced by Subhi’s partnership with Rajasthani folk vocalist Sikander Khan. She remarked, “Sikander is an amazing vocalist with a humble and beautiful soul,” expressing her respect for her fellow musician. Subhi says the experience of filming the music video for the song in the charming city of Jodhpur will never be forgotten. An immersive musical environment was created during the filming by bringing together a group of musicians, including a dholak player. She remembered, “It was really special—we connected and jammed together.”

Tehtul E Ishq solidifies Subhi’s distinct position in the world by following her successful collaboration with DJ Khaled and Cardi B on Higher Love.
