Based on the Maha Kumbh’s successful setup, Prayagraj hospitals are working to provide AI-driven teleICU services. Leading this effort, Prayagraj’s Cantonment Board General Hospital has suggested working with super-specialty hospitals in Lucknow to run AI-based teleICUs in Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, and Fatehpur.
With treatment starting at only Rs 1 per registration slip, these teleICUs seek to increase the capacity of government hospitals. In these areas, super-specialist OPDs are also scheduled to operate once a week. The government has yet to approve the idea.
The Cantonment Hospital successfully ran AI-enabled 10-bed intensive care units (ICUs) with cutting-edge equipment and internet-connected CCTVs during the Maha Kumbh, connecting directly to Lucknow hospitals for real-time professional help.
In order to facilitate communication between patients and physicians, the AI program could translate 22 Indian and 19 foreign languages into Hindi or English. The hospital now intends to modernize the region’s healthcare infrastructure using the same strategy.
If authorized, ICU services would be provided around-the-clock, and monthly OPDs will be held with assistance from Medanta Hospital in Lucknow, according to hospital director SK Pandey. The proposal also calls for district-level physicians to get ongoing training from experts.
Notably, all costs will be covered by the Cantonment Hospital without the need for any government support. The proposal has been sent to the Director General of Medical Health, according to Dr. Rakesh Sharma, Additional Director, Medical Health and Family Welfare, who also noted that it has the potential to significantly improve public healthcare services.
