IPL 2025: KKR vs. SRH: On Thursday, April 3, the Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025 match 17 at Eden Gardens thanks to an outstanding all-around effort.
They defeated SRH by 80 runs, their second victory of the year. On the strength of four points, they are currently ranked fifth in the IPL 2025 points standings. Now they have accomplished an unmatched achievement. Notably, KKR is the reigning champion after defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the championship match the previous year.
The first team to win more than 20 games against three distinct teams was KKR. Kolkata has won 20 games each versus Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad. In the lucrative league, KKR has also defeated Punjab Kings an astounding 21 times.
With a 7-wicket loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru at home, the Ajinkya Rahane-led team had a dismal start to their IPL 2025 campaign. In their second game, they overcame the Rajasthan Royals to recover.
They were given the opportunity to bat first against SRH, and they put up a strong showing, posting a formidable 200/6 in their 20 overs. With 60 runs, Venkatesh Iyer led the hosts in scoring, while Angkrish Raghuvanshi (50) put up a solid half-century.
In 16.4 overs, they dismissed Sunrisers Hyderabad for a mere 120 runs. The best bowler for KKR was Varun Chakravarthy, who took three wickets for only 22 runs in his four overs. Vaibhav Arora also took three wickets.
Chakravarthy commented on Rahane’s leadership: “He is leading us for the first time, and he was outstanding tonight. We wanted to wait until the very end since Andre normally bowls extremely well at the end, so we didn’t go for the other bowler.
“When Klaasen is around, you can never take it for granted that he is the best T20 hitter. The previous two games were difficult. The loss was enormous.
“However, we wanted to support our batters rather than point the finger at one another after we suffered such defeats last year. You may score 70–80 runs in the last five overs if you take your time and adjust to the pitch.
The next game of the season for KKR will take place at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday against the Lucknow Super Giants.
