Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Employee Selection Board (ESB) is likely to issue a notification for the recruitment of around 7,500 constables and 500 sub-inspectors (SI), officials said here on Friday. The board is currently awaiting the rule book from the PHQ to issue the notification.

The ESB recently declared the results of the Police Constable Recruitment 2023–24, and soon after the PHQ sent a demand letter requesting the initiation of a fresh recruitment drive.

Director of ESB, Sanket Malviya, told Free Press that the board plans to begin recruitment for both sub-inspectors and constables this year. “Probably by the end of this month, the notification will be released, and the form filling process will start accordingly and by June, and the exam process may begin by June,” he said.  The director further said that it would take approximately two months to complete the written examination, after which the PHQ will hold a physical proficiency test.

SI recruitment after 6 yrs

The last recruitment to SI post was conducted in 2018. According to PHQ officials, the delay in advertising recruitment was largely due to the Covid-19 pandemic. As a result, many aspirants have now crossed the age limit for the post during this period of 2018-2025.

Although the state government had granted a three-year relaxation in the upper age limit for recruitment exams, the relaxation expired in 2023, during which no SI recruitment was conducted. In 2014, applications  were invited to fill 720 SI posts. In the year 2015 the recruitment was held on 668 posts; 863 posts were filled in 2016  and 611 posts in 2017.
