Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India]: All-rounder Shardul Thakur of the Lucknow Super Giants spoke about his feelings and thinking after the team defeated the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 while delivering the 19th or 20th over of the second innings.

Although Shardul gave up 40 runs in his four overs, he took one wicket throughout that time. Ryan Rickleton, a left-hander, was removed on the tenth ball of the second innings when he was bowled out.

In front of powerful batsmen like Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma, the 33-year-old bowled the last over of the chase, giving up only seven runs.

“There is always pressure when you are bowling the penultimate or last over,” the Mumbai-born bowler stated at the post-match presentation in reference to bowling the 19th over. Avesh also performed well. You are paid to perform that work, however, at the end of the day. It was a challenging surface; even a couple slower ones were struck for limits, even if at times you felt they might work. Ultimately, the yorkers were effective. We can see what transpired in the first half, but the IPL has shown us that the pitch improves in the second half; it all comes down to adapting to the circumstances.”

Additionally, the youthful leg-spinner Digvesh Singh Rathi was praised by the quick bowler for his outstanding bowling. In his four overs, he conceded only 21 runs and claimed one wicket.

“Rathi is a fantastic bowler and a great person. The club needs players like him who can step in and perform well. He has also been a bit of a surprise in the IPL. “I think the ball comes on well and the bounce is even on the red soil, but you need more skills as a batter on black soil without dew,” the all-rounder said.

At the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium here on Friday, the hosts won by 12 runs thanks to the outstanding bowling effort of the Lucknow Super Giants, who held the five-time champion Mumbai Indians to 191.

The Lucknow-based team won their second game in the current 18th season of the lucrative league with this triumph. With four points from their four games in the tournament, they are presently ranked sixth in the IPL 2025 points table.

against April 8, the Lucknow Super Giants will take against the reigning champion Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
