IPL 2025 Updated Points Table Following LSG vs. MI: The Lucknow Super Giants defeated the Mumbai Indians by 12 runs on Friday at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, despite star batsman Suryakumar Yadav’s brilliant 67 and Hardik Pandya’s first five-wicket haul in T20 cricket.

After being called to bat, MI skipper Pandya returned with impressive bowling stats of 5/36, but he was unable to prevent LSG from reaching 203 for 8.

However, MI concluded at 191 for 5 in 20 overs after chasing 204 for a victory, exposing the five-time champions’ incapacity to chase down large goals. The balance shifted in favor of LSG thanks to Shardul Thakur’s frugal performance in the last over, which saw him concede only seven runs.

Both openers, Will Jacks (5) and Ryan Rickelton (10), were dismissed cheaply, reducing MI to 17 for 2 in 2.2 overs. India T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir kept the run chase steady as the visitors were in trouble.

At the midway point, MI was 101 for 3. Due to the lack of limits in the middle overs, the asking rate continued to rise. In the 14th over, Suryakumar hit a boundary off Bishnoi to achieve his maiden fifty off 31 balls and keep MI in the hunt.

With Pandya and Varma having settled in well, MI needed 40 runs from the last three overs and 29 from the final two. Then, to tip the scales in favor of LSG, Shardul conceded only seven runs in the 19th over. Varma then got 25 off 23 balls, an unusually sluggish batting performance that prompted MI to dismiss him out.

When Mitchell Santner entered the game, MI needed 22 runs from the last over, which was bowled by Avesh Khan. Khan ultimately got his side across the finish line by giving up only 9 runs in the crucial over.
