Eight-year-old Ananya Yadav from Ambedkar Nagar, whose video of her running with books in her hands during a demolition drive near her slum has garnered international attention, including from the Supreme Court, will have her educational costs covered by Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, who announced on Friday that he would cover them.

“Those who destroy children’s future are truly homeless themselves,” Yadav said in a post on X, a jab at the Yogi Adityanath-led administration.

This child’s education is our duty. The importance of education is only understood by those who have studied.

The former CM said that bulldozers are a sign of devastation rather than intellect, understanding, or wisdom, and he condemned their usage in eviction operations.

“With no reins of justice, a bulldozer travels on wheels of egotism and arrogance,” he said. Many people are incensed about the human cost of demolition efforts after seeing the recent video of Ananya running away with her books while local officials demolished buildings in her neighborhood.

Because her shanty was purportedly on encroached property, the youngster was forced to abandon it during the demolition effort in March.

The destruction was justified by the Ambedkar Nagar Police.

“This action was performed in response to an eviction order issued by the Jalalpur tehsildar’s court to remove encroachment from the village property. They claimed that the destruction was completed in complete accordance with the revenue court’s directive to restore government property.

The SC, which just became aware of the problem, has asked authorities to respond to its inquiry on the conditions surrounding these demolitions in the surrounding districts. She told reporters that she hopes to become an IAS officer after the demolition drive video went viral.
